Plantar fasciitis is a very common cause of heel pain.

It’s caused by inflammation and strain on the plantar fascia which is a band of tissue that supports the arch of your foot.
The heel pain will often be worse first thing in the morning after getting out of bed, on getting up from sitting, or if you’ve been on your feet for a long time.

You’re more likely to get plantar fasciitis if you stand for long periods of time; roll your feet in when you walk; are overweight; or have tight muscles in your legs.
